Does it cost too much to keep the Agora of the Strait green? Is it a sustainable operation for the Municipality’s coffers? Has the Port System Authority, which owns the exhibition areas, placed a burden on Palazzo Zanca that should at least be shared? These are the questions posed by the councilor of the III District, Alessandro Cacciotto, who – referring to the approval of the resolution by the Basile Council last 24 September – made the calculations, stating that for just 4 months the Municipality had to shoulder an expense of almost half a million euros for the care of the greenery and furnishings at the former Fair.
The reply from the president of the district arrives 24 hours later. «Faced with the declarations of councilor Cacciotto on the investment of 150 thousand euros intended for the maintenance of the Agora of the Strait, I believe it is necessary to re-establish some facts and above all to bring the comparison back to the real costs – states Renato Coletta -. Before talking about disproportionate figures, it would be enough to concretely analyze what the costs of managing and caring for greenery are. An example comes from the Port System Authority which, for the sole ordinary management and care of the green areas under its responsibility until 31 August, entrusted the company Sicilville Srl with a service worth approximately 137 thousand euros in the space of just two months.
