A 58-year-old man was attacked by a Rottweiler while peacefully fishing. The accident occurred this morning at the Tonnara di Palmi, in the area called the “green corner”.

According to what was reported by a relative of the man, the dog apparently escaped the control of the owner, who was unable to restrain him. The animal then attacked the fisherman’s arm, who desperately tried to defend himself. A fight ensued that lasted interminable moments, until the man threw himself into the water in an attempt to get the dog to let go. Immediately afterwards, he was transported to hospital, first to Gioia Tauro and then to the Gom in Reggio Calabria.

Currently, the fifty-eight year old is hospitalized in the surgery department of the Reggio hospital. He underwent a six-hour surgery to rebuild his arm, which was badly damaged down to the bone. It is feared that the man, a bricklayer by profession, could lose his limb.
