“Increasing taxes on those who rent a single housing unit to tourists is a mistake, because it penalizes the income of an individual, limits tourism in internal areas such as villages and encourages tax avoidance.” Carlo De Romanis, Head of the Tourism Department of Forza Italia, declared this in a note.

«It is wrong to raise funds for the scheme from families who want to rent their house in the mountains or a room of their son who has gone to study abroad to holidaymakers. At the same time, the protection of residents from mixing with tourists in their condominiums involves other measures: normalizing the National Identification Code for short-term rentals, supporting traditional hotel businesses, encouraging professional tourism training and remodulating the tourist tax on rates rather than on accommodation categories. For these reasons – he reiterates – the Tourism Department of Forza Italia is against the proposal to increase the dry tax on short-term rentals from 21 to 26% contained in the draft of the next financial measure”.
