Mattarella receives the national volleyball world champions at the Quirinale: “Formidable”

The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, received the national women’s and men’s volleyball teams who won their respective World Championships in the afternoon at the Quirinale. During the meeting, the President of the Italian National Olympic Committee, Luciano Buonfiglio, the President of the Italian Volleyball Federation, Giuseppe Manfredi, the coach of the Italian women’s national team, Julio Velasco, the coach of the Italian men’s national team, Ferdinando De Giorgi, the captain of the women’s team, Anna Danesi, and the vice-captain of the men’s team, Simone Anzani, spoke. The Head of State addressed a response greeting to those present. “Formidable”: the first comment from President Mattarella, who then took things further: «I applauded Velasco, when a few days ago he lashed out against my generation, or even the next one, which always criticizes young people: I completely agree, an exceptional generation is coming up.
