The students of the Mediterranean are pleased, but not entirely convinced, by the merit income, at the center of the recent memorandum of understanding between the Region and the Calabrian universities. A shared consideration is that it could become a constructive seed for the future, but nevertheless there is no shortage of doubts and criticisms. «I welcomed this news as a hope that university merit, pure and simple, could finally find its recognition – begins Alessandro Larizza, 21 years old, board member of the New Deal Association, in his third year of law school. – We have finally turned our attention not only to those who must enter the university context, but also and above all to give recognition to those who already work in the university world. The choice to study in Reggio – he explains – stems from not wanting to base the university decision only on one city, but rather from the deeper awareness of finding myself in a familiar context of very high professionalism”.
