First joint training session at “L’Ambiente Stadium” for Messina who, after a week of work, faced Kaggi, freshman in the Promotion tournament, who “replaced” the unavailable Siracusa. Game finished 13-0.
Form and training. Coach Giacomo Modica confirms the 4-3-3 formation in the two 45-minute halves. Starting eleven with Fumagalli between the posts, in defense Lia and Tropea on the wings, Darini and Polito in the center; in the middle Giunta as play, Frisenna and Scafetta on his sides. Offensive trident with Zunno, Emmausso fake nueve and Cavallo. The coach tries a line-up without the three disqualified Manetta, Franco (who entered the second half), and Ragusa. The latter not used like Daga, Ferrara (both seem to have ended up on the sidelines of the project), Pacciardi, Buffa and Firenze. Ninety minutes only for Polito, Tropea and Cavallo. The Giallorossi’s attitude mirrors that of the previous tests: high defense and Fumagalli too often outside his own area, pressing, fast and wide play on the flanks. Loaded and proactive team but, especially in the second half, the technical difference was evident, it proved to be a little indicative commitment, like the previous ones up to now, among other things.
The challenge. In the 13-0 there is the four of Emmausso, three goals from Iannone and a goal for Darini, Salvo, Cavallo, Frisenna, Lucioni and Spadaro’s own goal. It starts in the 7th minute with Giunta’s throw for Frisenna and a cross in the middle for Emmausso’s advantage with an easy support. After some good initiatives by Zunno, imprecise in his conclusions, the double arrives in the 35th minute from a penalty obtained by Zunno and converted by Emmausso. Two minutes later, a corner by Zunno and, at the far post, a header by Darini (3-0), while in the 40th minute Emmausso again, with a header, scored on an assist from Lia for the 4-0 that closes the first half. In the second half, Quartarone in goal, Lia, Salvo, Polito and Tropea in defence, Giunta, Scafetta and Ortisi in midfield, trident confirmed with Zunno, Emmausso and Cavallo. Spadaro’s unfortunate back pass made it 5-0 and then Messina spread with Salvo in the 9th minute, Emmausso in the 11th minute following a cross from Zunno, in the 17th minute a fine goal by Cavallo who concentrated and shot with his left foot at the near post and, in the 20th minute Frisenna’s header from a corner. Iannone’s hat-trick follows in six minutes: first a shot from outside, then a pearl from midfield and finally a close left footed shot. To close the goleada, in the 38th minute, the close deflection of Lucioni on an assist from Ortisi.
Program and market. Still on the field today, rest on Monday and resumed on Tuesday, when news could arrive. Awaited the enrollment of Domenico Franco and the arrival of full-back Giorgio Brogni, for which the negotiation is practically closed. We continue to work on the attacker, but with two-three sales in the barrel, other grafts are not excluded (especially in defense). Finally, Licata will not be Messina’s next opponent, engaged in two other joint training sessions on Friday 25 and Sunday 27 against opponents (probably from Serie D) to be defined.
