Even on December 8th, while we went from one Christmas tree to another in the city center, the main topic was one above all: when will we go to vote? And so it is also the next day, in the corridors of Palazzo Zanca, so it has been for weeks and it will probably be so for at least another month, perhaps even more. It is very unlikely that a final decision on early elections in Messina will be made before the end of January, but the political dilemma of the moment can be simplified as follows: if the Schifani government were to reach the end of its mandate, and therefore to 2027, then the chances of a return to voting in Messina as early as next spring would rise exponentially; if, however, the situation in Palermo were to worsen (a hypothesis that no one feels excluded a priori), then in Messina we could stall and reach 2027.
Cateno De Luca wants to avoid the two electoral moments from coinciding, because what he has been saying for weeks is true: Messina will not be a bargaining chip on any political tables.
