The ecumenical prayer which represented the culminating moment of the Season of Creation 2026 experienced in the diocese took place on Saturday 26 September at the Agorà dello Stretto Park, in the area of the former Messina Fair.
The initiative, promoted by the diocesan Commission for the Custody of Creation, brought together Christians from different Churches in front of the waters of the Strait on the theme “Living Water”.
The meeting opened with the greeting of the lawyer. Francesco Rizzo, president of the Strait Port System Authority. The park, redeveloped and returned to the community a few months ago, offered a concrete example of integral ecology: care for the environment combines with the regeneration of urban spaces and the creation of meeting and social places for the community.
The prayer was led by Don Sergio Siracusano and animated by the Santa Maria Assunta Chapel of the Cathedral, directed by the master Msgr. Lombard. In the centre, the passage from the Apocalypse dedicated to the river of living water and the tree whose leaves heal the nations.

This was followed by a concert by the Decibel Ensemble, directed by maestro Alberto Famà, as part of the “Armonie dello Spirito” event, in collaboration with Ars Nova Messina.
Prayer, music and beauty recalled the common commitment to safeguard creation and take care of the territory and the people who live there.
