The word to women: a journey into the female universe between past and present: a very current theme for the round table that will be held tomorrow (from 9.30) at the Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti in Messina.
The meeting «The word to women. The female universe from classical antiquity to the contemporary age”, offers a reflection on the role and evolution of the female figure through the centuries. They will alternate, with the moderation of the prof. Alessandra Tramontana, the interventions of important scholars, authors of essays that have animated the contemporary debate, all professors of the Department of Ancient and Modern Civilizations of the University of Messina: Anna Maria Urso – author of «Body» (Inschibboleth) and «The Greeks, the Romans and… sex» (Carocci) – will talk about «Daughters of a minor god: models of the feminine in ancient thought»; Fortunata Latella – author of «Unkind women. The female condition in the mirror of court narrative” (La Vela) – will delve into “The female figure in courtly narrative”; Susanna Villari – author of «I am a woman of myself. Giraldi and the female world between short stories and tragedies” (Aracne) – will offer a reflection on female self-determination in the sixteenth century through literature; Rita Fulco – author of «Subjectivity and power. Ontology of vulnerability in Simone Weil» (Quodlibet) – will analyze the thought of contemporary female philosophers, with particular attention to Simone Weil and the theme of power. The conclusions will be entrusted to Irene Romera Pintor, from the University of Valencia.
