The “House of the Butterflies” at the Messina Regional Museum “Maria Accascina” inaugurated, With great participation by the local community, city institutions and university.
The event that transforms a winter garden into a tropical paradise offers young and old a unique opportunity to get in touch with nature in an exceptional cultural context such as the Messina Museum.
The initiative sponsored by the Municipality of Messina saw the participation of exponents of the Carabinieri, the Navy and Fire Brigade, of the academic community with the presence of the vicar proreor Giuseppe Giordanoin addition to a festive amount of adults and children who immediately proved enthusiastic to see butterflies unknown to date or only virtually seen.

“The house of the butterflies” that has already stopped in the city such as Modica, Syracuse, Ragusa, Palermo and Marsala, this year is enriched with an extraordinary novelty: the “Insecta” collection of judge Vittorio Aliquò. This exhibition promises to be one of the points of greatest interest, offering visitors a fascinating journey in the world of insects.
The organizers underline how this Messina edition of the “House of the butterflies” takes on a special value thanks to the exceptional location: the Regional Museum Accascina, custodian of inestimable masterpieces, including two works by Caravaggio and a work by Antonello da Messina . “This combination of art and nature represents an unmissable opportunity for a 360 degree cultural experience, which combines the charm of art with the wonder of biodiversity. It is a project designed for everyone, from families to school groups, with the aim of sensitizing visitors on the importance of biodiversity and respect for the environment “.
A team of naturalist experts will guide visitors on a journey to discover the world of butterflies, answering questions, revealing curiosities and deepening issues related to biodiversity. It will also be possible to participate in didactic workshops and other initiatives organized by the entomologists of the “House of butterflies”. Born with an educational purpose, as well as naturalistic and playful, this unique fauna exhibition of its kind is made with great attention to the well -being of the precious and colorful specimens in all stages of the project.
