“There are battles that have no political color.” These words open the appeal launched by the “Together for the Territory” movement, which has decided to take the field to convincingly support the initiative and the petition promoted by the councilor of the VII District of Messina, Mario Biancuzzo, regarding the exceeding of the motorway toll at the Ponte Gallo/Villafranca toll booth. The issue closely affects the daily lives of thousands of citizens in the northern area of Messina, forced every day to cross the barrier to go to work, university, hospitals or simply to experience their own territory. After more than half a century of inconveniences, for the movement chaired by Filippo Iannelli “the time has come to face the matter with courage and common sense, transforming a request for equity into an institutional objective that can no longer be postponed”.
The territory does not ask for privileges, but for concrete answers. The over 20,000 signatures collected over the years demonstrate unequivocally that this is not the battle of a single person, but the unanimous voice of an entire community asking to finally be heard. For this reason, “Together for the Territory” makes an appeal to the President of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani. The request is that the highest regional office promotes the opening of an institutional table, which brings together all the competent subjects, in order to identify a definitive and advantageous solution for the residents. «When a request is right, it doesn’t matter who makes it. What counts is having the courage to carry it forward.”
