An art that takes care of, that consoles and that humanizes: this is the heart of the project started by the ASP of Messina, as part of the “Humanization of the care spaces” program. In recent days, at the Hospice hosted inside the Papardo hospital, the ceremony of delivery of the artistic panels donated by the Lions Club Messina Ionio and by private citizens, including family members of the patients and operators of the structure, took place.
The initiative, called “We furnish the Hospice”marks the beginning of a wider project, curated by the psychologist manager Angelida Ullo, which also provides for the introduction of immersive technologies such as optical viewers and virtual reality. The goal is to create a psycho-sensorial path capable of concretely improving the quality of life of the guests of the Hospice, a place dedicated to the assistance of people suffering from terminal diseases.
The project is promoted and coordinated by the doctors of the UOS Hospice referents, Santina Paratore and Alessandro Grippa, and inserted in the strategic plan of the Asp of Messina which aims at the centrality of the patient, understood in its physical, emotional and relational totality. The strategic direction of the ASP – composed of the general manager Giuseppe Cuccì, the administrative director Giancarlo Niutta and the health director Giuseppe Ranieri Trimarchi – underlines how “The treatment environment should stimulate psycho-emotional well-being”transforming the health space into a more welcoming and meaningful place.
The event saw the participation of representatives of the Lions Club, including Mariangela Giammella, Francesco Freni Terranova, Maria Francesca Scilio and the artist Simone Caliò. The funds for the creation of the panels were partially collected thanks to the solidarity show “The goddess between myth and reality”, staged last December at the Papardo auditorium.
It is not the first time that the Lions Club Messina Ionio has collaborated with the ASP in artistic enhancement projects: already in November 2023 he had contributed to the redevelopment of the “new Margherita space”, demonstrating a consolidated synergy that aims to transform places of care into spaces of life, relationship and beauty.
