Comparison and participation are the two key words of the meeting between the company management and the staff of the maternal and child area of the G. Martino Polyclinic of Messina for the presentation of the project to revisit the pediatric emergency room and the creation of the obstetric emergency room with birth block; the latter will be located on floor 0 of the NI pavilion and will embrace a large wing where, in addition to the outpatient area, there will be an obstetric emergency room and delivery rooms, with an adjoining dedicated operating room. For the pediatric emergency room the intervention involves the creation of the warm room, a new waiting room and the overall review of the short observation area.

«Among the activities scheduled in our intervention plan, after the opening of the general emergency room – said the general director Giorgio Giulio Santonocito – the NI pavilion was certainly a priority. This is still an exploratory phase in which we wish to share with the operators who will work in these spaces the best solutions based on their needs and where we are also evaluating further design developments”.

Some representatives of the company advisory committee were also present at the meeting and drew attention to the importance of clearly defining the paths, detailing the actions that will be implemented. «It will be our responsibility – continued the general director – to communicate to the population the different steps that will be implemented from the start of the construction site. It is clear that this project will cause some inconvenience, but we have designed the works also taking into consideration the need not to interrupt activities and therefore we will proceed gradually without creating excessive problems for citizens. The aim is certainly to make the spaces more usable and more suitable for a modern and functional hospital, suitable for mothers and children”.
