The press conference to present the ‘Mbracciata, the new identifying dessert of the city of Messina, created by the master pastry chef Loredana Ermini, took place today, Thursday 26 February, at Palazzo Zanca. A moment of sharing and citizen pride which saw the presence of the mayor Federico Basile and Ermini herself together with her daughter, testifying to the family and generational value of the initiative. The councilor for Productive Activities Massimo Finocchiaro, who supported and shared the idea aimed at enhancing identity, tradition and the capacity for innovation, despite not being able to participate personally, wanted to demonstrate closeness and support for the project. The ‘Mbracciata was born with the intention of symbolically representing the rebirth of the City of the Strait after the earthquake, combining historical memory, identity and future vision in a product that tells, through the confectionery tradition, the strength and resilience of the Messina community.

During the meeting, Mayor Basile underlined: “This initiative combines art and history, tradition and production capacity. The ‘Mbracciata can also become an important reference in the context of our De.Co. brand, because it represents a concrete example of how we can be aware and, at the same time, productive citizens. The De.Co. brand represents our challenge for the protection and valorisation of Messina’s excellence, not only to promote our products, but to strengthen the sense of belonging and identity of the territory”.
