The project presented in the Senate of the rectorate “Pro-well-comune”which aims to develop actions and protocols that sights the Promotion of the psychophysical well -being of the student population and to the Prevention of psychological distressin order to facilitate a better adaptation to university life.
It is essential that universities provide a healthy environment in which students can face psychological problems successfully and receive the necessary support; For this reason, the activities of the project aims, concretely, a guarantee psychological support and short psychotherapy pathswhich will increase the opportunities for listening and the possibilities to acquire personal and relational resources useful also for the future that awaits young people after the conclusion of the path of study. Through research, it will be aimed at explore the theme of the psychological well -being of university studentsanalyzing The main risk and protection factorsboth individual and environmental, associated with the manifestation of problematic behaviors between the student population.
A holistic approach will be privileged that aims to create a healthy and welcoming university context through the combination of counseling interventions, empirical research, prevention and use of digital technologies.

“The ‘pro-well-comune’ project-said the rector-is part of an already virtuous path started by the University since 2018, when the qualified psychological support service at the Ce.Rip of Unime. We are aware of the fact that personal growth must represent the primary objective of university education, above all the other factors that affect an academic community. Since February we have equipped ourselves with a further 6 listening points and free psychological support at the alario in via Pietro Castelli and the Poli Papardo and Annunziata. A further support point will be dedicated exclusively to the specific needs of foreign students. Furthermore, since October, training activities have been started on the theme of psychological counseling. The University of Messina was among the first to structurally deal with the psychological well -being of its students and is further implementing its commitment on the matter. Since 2023, the Mur has increased the funding for initiatives aimed at the psychological aspect of university life and, precisely in this perspective, the adhesion of our university to the ‘Pro -bene -Comune’ project must be read, together with another 9 partners “.
“In terms of psychological support – added Prof. Liga – Unime anticipated the times with concrete actions that have been made even more important by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Already from 2018 our University had warned the need to combine the research phase with that of the psychological intervention aimed at supporting students. Within the free services of support and intervention of the Ce.Rip also the one aimed at special educational needs is also incardinated. With the financial support of the Mur to the network projects as, precisely, ‘pro-well-comune’ will be able to promote psychological well-being within the universities in a widespread way: the project consists of two operating lines, from here to 2026. There are 3 main objectives set: the research, which will aim for the analysis of the needs of the student community. Soon, in fact, A request for the compilation of a protocol aimed at the acquisition of data to ascertain the level of well -being of the students will be sent through the UNIME APP app; The expansion of services, an objective already achieved by our university also thanks to the help of the specializing in health psychology and through the expansion of listening points; Dissemination of information, which provides, among other things, in October, an event of presentation of the second line of funding devoted specifically to the problems derived from gambling or the use of substances “.
To achieve the design objectives, funds have been assigned to the University of Messina for a share greater than 275 thousand euros. In the project, of which the University of Calabria is the leading subject, the Conservatory of Music A. Scarlatti Palermo (Afam), the International School of Advanced Studies and the Universities of Trieste, Siena, Trento, Palermo, Catanzaro “Magna Graecia” and Mediterranean are also attended together with Unime.
