This afternoon the Director of ANSFISA, the National Agency for the Safety of Railways and Road and Motorway Infrastructures, Domenico Capomolla and the CEO of Stretto di Messina, Pietro Ciuccisigned a memorandum of understanding on the sidelines of a conference organized by ANSFISA itself in Bologna. The memorandum of understanding is aimed at establishing an organic technical-scientific collaboration relationship between the Strait of Messina and the Agency, concerning the development of the executive design of the Bridge’s monitoring systems during the drafting of the executive project.

The crossing monitoring system assumes considerable importance for the correct functioning of the same throughout its useful life, starting from the construction phases. ANSFISA’s mission includes, among other things, the promotion of safety and supervision of railway, road and motorway infrastructures and fixed installations.

With its regulatory regulation and monitoring planning and development activities, which go hand in hand with the operational control activity it carries out in the field, ANSFISA plays a role of stimulus and support for operators, who are required to ensure the safety of the infrastructures they manage, through a path of increasingly complete responsibility and oriented towards constant action to minimize risks. As part of the development of the executive design of the bridge over the Strait of Messina, an important part will concern the design of the monitoring system of the Work for correct functioning during operation throughout its useful life, starting from the construction phases. The objective of the protocol is to anticipate collaboration with ANSFISA right from the executive planning stage, underlining the commitment to pay maximum attention to the promotion of safety and supervision of railway, road and motorway infrastructures. In this context, the bridge confirms itself as a large scientific laboratory for advanced research.

The studies conducted for the project have become a point of reference worldwide for the construction of large suspension bridges. With the protocol signed together with ANSFISA, we will further enrich the country’s wealth of knowledge, making it an increasingly protagonist in the infrastructure and road and railway safety sectors.
