From today in Torre Faro, everything changes on the mobility front. For the rest, the seaside village is ready to become the favorite destination of many Messina, for its views and the beauty of the sea and beaches. The pedestrian island that will empty the supporting axis of the car road and motorbikes is triggered. The paid stop arrives and open, albeit partially and not yet fully functional, the Morandi towers.

From this afternoon and until 14 September, from 18 to 2, only on foot can it be transit from the square in front of the Madonna della letter church, in the stretch of via Torre, between the streets Rando and Pozzo Giew, and of the Via Fortino, between the lantern and Barresi streets. It is the tenth year that the island is activated even if with formulas that only in the last period have stabilized. The first elements mounted to introduce electronic gates, but even this summer they will not be fully active and only an experiment can be made. The paid stop also starts in the 110 blue stalls of Torre Faro, partly on the pedestrian island. The parking lots were all stirred, together with the rest of the signs. They do not have the identification number like those of the city center. “The applications with which to pay and the parks installed in the coming weeks – explains the president of ATM Carla Grillo – do not include the insertion of the number of stall in Torre Faro”. One thought less for motorists, who will have to pay one euro for each time of parking between 8 and 24; morning/afternoon (from 8 to 16) and afternoon/evening (from 16 to 24) three euros, daily rate (from 8 to 24) five euros.

The parking lot of Torre Morandi is also reopened

And from today the Morandi towers, the largest parking in the area, also open. In reality, since last spring it has become a construction site for a radical transformation that will make it a green and better equipped parking area. The works should end at the end of the year, but in the summer it could not be done without Torri Morandi. And so today it has been opened provisionally and with the partially operational construction site, a space (the closest to via Pozzo Giudeo) which contains 82 cars plus 11 for the disabled. A vast esplanade in which you can see that there is still a lot of work. On June 20, the rest of the space should be made available to arrive at 232 overall parking spaces. At that point the works will be blocked and will resume in September. The bottom is in battle and until tonight the workers have worked to make it as accessible as possible for cars and for those who then have to, on foot, leave the parking lot. “The stop will be free – said President Grillo – until June 30, like the shuttle that leads to the beaches, one every 20 minutes”.
