The police are investigating a serious incident that occurred last October 18 in Largo Minutoli, the main arrival point for tourists who disembark in the city almost every day from large cruise ships. To welcome them, every time, a “wall” of tourist operators ready to offer tours to visit Messina and the most famous places in the province. A continuous flow of tourists which over the years has generated an economic circuit that is attractive to many operators in the sector.
The beating was reported by the duly authorized travel agency employee, who was apparently attacked by at least three still unidentified men, indicated by the young man as taxi drivers or chauffeurs, who acted for competitive reasons.
The episode occurred in the morning and was described in a complaint – a complaint that the 27-year-old operation filed with the police. The young man, after being kicked and punched, under the frightened eyes of other work colleagues, was forced to seek the care of emergency room doctors.
What sparked the ire of some people, according to what was reported in the complaint by the young man who is assisted by the lawyer Ernesto Marcianò, were issues related to competition between operators, in practice the issue concerned the grabbing of a newly arrived cruise passenger to whom he could offer his own tourist packages.
