Today and in the past few days, the unions have been heavily criticized. Now the response from the Metropolitan City regarding the public transport service for students with disabilities that retraces the stages of this ugly story: “The tender for the public transport for students of the Higher Institutes with disabilities It was announced at the right time, indeed earlier than in previous years, with the aim of ensure the smooth start of the service coinciding with the start of the school year. Despite this, the race held last July was desertedmaking a new tender procedure necessary, which was published after the first one and which ended a few days ago. As already communicated, the new tender has been awarded and the service will resume regularly starting from Tuesday 17th as already communicated in recent days”.

“It is important to underline – we read further in the reply – that the Metropolitan City has foreseen the amounts needed to cover the service not only for the current year, but for two years. The failure to participate in the first tender by the cooperatives that traditionally deal with the transport service cannot in any way be attributed to the institution, which operated within the times and methods provided for by the legislation, providing the sums in time. The fact that none of the usual economic operators presented themselves to the tender is an element to reflect on, but we firmly reiterate that the Metropolitan City has played its role punctuallyby making available the necessary financial resources and starting the tender procedures in good time. The Metropolitan City will continue to guarantee its commitment to ensure the transport service for students with disabilities, in respect for the rights of users and familiesAnd rejects any accusation or insinuation that appears to be unfounded”.
