An afternoon of severe traffic disruption on Viale della Libertà, where a truck remained stranded against a street furniture tree, causing serious damage to the cabin. In the impact, the vehicle literally lost its roof, remaining stuck with the upper part stuck between the protruding branches.

The episode occurred along one of the main city roads, causing traffic to be blocked for several hours. The truck, an articulated lorry that had just disembarked from the ferries, was proceeding south, towards the Prefecture area, when it hit one of the trees that line the avenue. The height of the vehicle, evidently not compatible with the shape of the road in that section, caused the accident.

The consequences on traffic were immediate: long queues of heavy vehicles formed both entering and exiting the port area, with numerous articulated lorries heading towards or coming from the ferries remaining in a queue. Ordinary traffic has suffered severe slowdowns, also involving private cars and public transport.

The police and traffic personnel intervened on site to secure the area and manage traffic. To ease the pressure on Viale della Libertà, heavy vehicles were temporarily diverted towards Viale Giostra, identified as an alternative route.

The episode reignites attention on the issue of managing truck flows in the city and on the compatibility between heavy traffic and street furniture, especially along central arteries. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but inconveniences remain for motorists and hauliers as they await the complete restoration of normal circulation.
