Messina, Uiltrasporti: “Openings from CAS, tests of dialogue”

CAS (Sicilian Motorway Consortium). After the declaration of a state of agitation by all staff, Uiltrasporti has started the second phase of the cooling off procedures, requesting the mandatory conciliation attempt in the Prefecture, held today at 11Present at the meeting for uiltrasporti were the Secretary General Nino Di Mento, the Provincial Secretary of the sector Angelo Passari, the RSA Natale Bonsignore, for the CAS the General Director Dr. Fazio Calogero and Dr. Ietto Carmelo, under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Staff Dr. Gambadauro. We reiterated in the Prefecture – the unionists explain – the enormous problems centered first of all on the chronic shortage of staff that is recorded in all sectors, starting with the adjustment of the hours of the part-time staff of the 105 workers with the amendment of the contract of hours as per the organic regulation in force at the CAS, the definition of the economic part of the second level agreement from the year 2023, the opening of negotiations for the year 2024, failure to discuss the organizational chart relating to the requalification of staff, suspension by the consortium of hiring following a competition announced, sudden closure of the blue points in the summer months with consequent inconvenience for users and last but not least we record a critical situation of some essential services such as the Radio Center and traffic safety with insufficient staff to cover even the basic shift. The General Director of the CAS immediately responded by consolidating the acknowledgement of the chronic staff shortage highlighted by Uiltrasporti in all departments, for this lack of staff, he himself gave reassurance of the immediate scrolling of the ranking for the hiring of part-time contracts at 25% with an indefinite term, having already prepared the Resolution.

Uiltrasporti has asked, while sharing this initiative, to specifically pay attention to the adjustment of the hours of the 105 already hired, in order to plan a further increase in hours that will break down the barrier of precariousness, through a mechanism that is a priority process towards the right stabilization, a proposal that has been accepted by the top management of the CAS. As regards the Organic Plant, which is of fundamental priority regarding all the missing professional figures, which is essential for motorway concessions, in compliance with the safety of workers, both for users who currently do not use the services by paying a toll. Therefore, both for the Organic Plant and for the 2nd Level Negotiation, at the same time as the requalification of the staff, the General Director has committed to convene this Union by the end of September to resolve the disputes through shared reasoning for the best resolution. In conclusion, also through the Prefecture which must be acknowledged for its commitment to mediation which led to openings and attempts at dialogue with the top management of the CAS, Uiltrasporti intended to suspend the procedures and start, as mentioned, the comparison of correct industrial relations.
