Only two matches for Messina’s youth sector this week, both played on Sunday in Bisconte which saw the biancoscudate teams face off against their peers from Giugliano.
In yesterday’s matches, a painful defeat for Messina’s Under 15 national team who didn’t make proper use of the opportunities they had against Giugliano and lost 3-2 within the friendly walls of Bisconte. Cold advantage for the gialloblù who broke the deadlock with Metafora’s penalty in the 4th minute. Leone doubles the lead in the 13th minute before a sending off by Casalini 5′ from the end puts Messina back in the running, 2-1 at half-time thanks to Errigo’s free kick. At the beginning of the second half, despite the man less, Giugliano scores the hat trick again with Leone. The home team reacted again but did not go beyond the 2-3 made by Sofia on a penalty kick 13′ from the end.
Under the downpour, Giuseppe Cosimi’s Under 17s redeemed their defeat in the last round and in a comeback beat Giugliano 2-1. It all happens in the first half. Cuomo sent the guests ahead in the 8th minute taking advantage of a misunderstanding between Mameli and Maniscalco. In the 40th minute Pecora scores his second consecutive league goal with a perfect right-footed shot from long range. The final 2-1 goes to Campanella who, a few minutes after the final whistle, puts Messina ahead from a free kick.
A week’s break now awaits the Under 15s and Under 17s while the Primavera team will start again next weekend from the trip to Pineto.
