The presence of mice in the premises of the “Vespucci” secondary school in Vibo Valentia has pushed the Municipality to order the temporary closure of the building for tomorrow, Friday 31 October.

The decision is contained in union ordinance no. 79 signed yesterday by the mayor of Vibo Valentia, which provides for an urgent disinfestation, rodent control and sanitization of the school premises.

The measure became necessary after formal and verbal reports from the head teacher of the “A. Vespucci – Murmura” comprehensive institute, who had highlighted the presence of rodents within the structure. As stated in the ordinance, the situation represents a potential risk to public health, in particular for students, teachers and non-teaching staff.

During the reclamation operations, access will only be allowed to the technical personnel in charge and to the municipal officials responsible for monitoring. The school director must also ensure that no one enters the building until the activities have been completed and authorization has been issued by the executing company.

The reopening of the complex will be possible only after the conclusion of the sanitization operations and the verification of the hygienic-health conditions by the technicians.

The ordinance, sent to the Prefecture, Local Police, ASP of Vibo and the competent municipal offices, can be consulted on the online Notice Board and on the Municipality’s institutional website.
