As part of an extraordinary control service, carried out yesterday evening in the Mamertino Center and in the surrounding areas, the military passed on roads, vehicles and public places to sift, with the aim of preventing crimes, counteracting the phenomenon of drug dealing and repressing the infringements of the highway code, with particular attention to driving under the effect of alcohol and drugs.
During the operation, over 250 vehicles were checked and 438 people identified. Numerous infringements detected, including non -use of helmet and seat belts, as well as the use of the mobile phone driving: behaviors that put the safety of motorists and pedestrians at risk. Overall, the carabinieri reduced 82 license points and proceeded with the seizure of 6 vehicles.
Two complaints for crimes connected to road traffic: A person was surprised to drive in a state of alcoholic intoxication, while another refused to undergo the test for the assessment of the assumption of drugs. Three other complaints were taken for abusive port of weapons or objects capable of offending.
The checks have also extended to some commercial activities. Two owners were reported for attempted fraud in the exercise of trade, while a third ended up in trouble for the possession of food in a bad state of conservation.
On the front of the contrast to drug consumption, eleven people were reported to the Prefecture of Messina as manifolders. The subjects, found in possession of modest quantities of hashish, marijuana and crack, held the substances for personal use. The drug was seized and sent to the Ris of Messina for laboratory analyzes.
