Milazzo, Midili-bis: endorsement by the regional government. The mayor: “Full trust in my team”

The center-right says yes to Midili-bis. The political forces that represent the guiding structure of the regional government in Palermo have given the green light to the re-nomination of the mayor of Milazzo who will meet the citizens this evening in Piazza della Repubblica, at 7.15pm, for an assessment of the first four years of his mandate. It will be an opportunity to take stock of the situation on what has been done and what will be done between now and the end of the council meeting (which should be in October next year, even if it is not excluded that we could go to the vote at May 2026) but also to formalize his re-nomination for the most important seat in Palazzo dell’Aquila.
The mayor confirmed that he had received approval to continue at the helm of Milazzo from the political leaders of Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia and Lega, but also from the new Christian Democrats. «In recent days – states Midili –, I had a meeting with the political references of the coalition: from Forza Italia deputies, Tommaso Calderone and Bernadette Grasso, to the Hon. Pino Galluzzo and councilor Elvira Amata of Fratelli d’Italia and again the representation of the League. Everyone reiterated their full trust in the undersigned and the team of collaborators, ensuring that they will not fail to give their support. Same thing for the Milazzo members of the new Christian Democracy. A framework that adds to the civic lists that have always had an important role in the coalition.” The mayor is already working on the lists. «Obviously, as happened in the previous electoral experience, we will start early and the objective is to be able to count on the support of no more than seven lists, a number not linked to the composition of the council, but rather to the need to allow the citizen to vote with conviction for the mayor and the program.”
Games therefore played in the centre-right, even if other presences linked to this political orientation cannot be ruled out in the next electoral campaign. In this sense, another candidacy that appears certain is that of the former mayor Lorenzo Italiano who – it is claimed – can benefit from the support of Carmelo Pino, who has led Palazzo dell’Aquila several times and at least three civic lists. Also to be defined is the position of “South calls North”, which in Milazzo has as its leader the combative city councilor Damiano Maisano. Absolute silence on the other hand in the home of the centre-left, where a Coordination operates that intends to cancel the flop of 2020. The Democratic Party must have a fundamental role, which should launch the city congress by the end of the month and elect the new secretary (currently the regent is Gioacchino Abbriano ). It will be difficult for him to express a candidate for mayor, because the objective is to prepare a list that can have a good presence in the city council where he has been absent in this five-year period. At this point, the formation of a large field with a coalition candidate cannot be ruled out, which many indicate is the doctor Giovanni Utano, a person appreciated in the city.
