Another step in the path aimed at the energy transition. The Milazzo refinery started the formulation of sustainable fuel for the aviation (“Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend”).

These are fundamental biofuels especially in the air transport sector, where decarbonisation alternatives are still limited or less mature technologies. And this with a view to those objectives set by Directive 2030 on renewable energy, which provides for a significant increase in the share of renewable energy in transport, together with more rigorous criteria of sustainability and traceability.

This sustainable fuel for the aviation – explain the top management – is obtained from the mixing of the conventional fuel with biojet imported from a bioraffineria, obtained through a process that transforms waste and residues of biological origin – such as exhausted food oils, industrial by -products and animal fats – in hydrocarbons compatible with aeronautical engines. Thanks to its renewable origin, this fuel allows a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, concretely contributing to the sector of decarbonisation of the sector. “This is a further step – declares the general manager Alessandro Rosatelli – which testifies to Ram’s concrete commitment towards environmental sustainability, in line with European and national strategies for the energy transition”.
