Yesterday evening, at around 8.00 pm, the Operations Room of the firefighters of the Catanzaro Command activated a person search intervention in the municipality of Taverna, in the Pietra Bianca area. The operation was triggered following the report of the failure to return of a 74-year-old man, who had left in the morning to search for mushrooms.
Teams from the headquarters and the Taverna volunteer detachment were sent to the site.

At approximately 10.40pm, the Fire Brigade personnel identified the man inside the bush, lying on the ground and in a clear state of confusion, with signs attributable to hypothermia. He was stabilized and immobilized on a stretcher, then transferred to a safe area and entrusted to the healthcare staff of Suem 118 for initial treatment and subsequent transport to a hospital facility.

The Carabinieri also contributed to the search activities, with the Carlopoli station, which found the vehicle of the missing person, allowing the perimeter of the operations to be narrowed down and the discovery to be speeded up.

The collaboration between the Fire Brigade, the Suem 118 and the Carabinieri made a timely intervention possible, a fundamental result in rescuing the unfortunate victim.
