On the wet Buriram circuit, in Thailand, Francesco Bagnaia pulls off an almost perfect race and achieves a great success in the third to last round of the MotoGP season. Despite an error and a few too many difficulties, however, Jorge Martin manages to limit the damage from a World Championship perspective by finishing second thanks to Marc Marquez’s fall. The difference in points between the Spaniard leader of the classification and the Italian is shortened to 17 points, making the last two Sprint Races and the last two GPs in Malaysia and Valencia extremely delicate. Third place for Pedro Acosta with the KTM GasGas, while Enea Bastinini fell and forced to finish at the back of the group after yesterday’s victory.
Martin’s start was splendid as he immediately jumped into the lead, dragging his rival Bagnaia with him, while Bastianini’s other red car ended up in the rear due to a problem, allowing Marc Marquez to get into the podium area. The first twist of the race comes during the fifth lap, when ‘Martinator’ makes a mistake and goes wide, being overtaken by both Pecco and Marc. It is these last two who give rise to a nice duel as the laps go by, with the Spaniard attempting to overtake a couple of times but the Italian responding immediately as many times by defending the lead of the race.
In forcing the pace, Marquez makes a small mistake and, at the end of lap 14, he crashes and is forced to start from the back. Bagnaia thus has free track front and rear to be able to control the advantage over Martin, who in turn only has to manage second position.
