It won’t be a real showdown but a debate will open within the coalitions facing each other at Palazzo De Nobili. The center-right will have to get rid of the toxins linked to the failure to reach the quota of 17 signatures, with which it aimed at the dissolution of the civic assembly and the return to voting in the spring. The coalition that supports the Fiorita administration will have to confirm that it “is” the majority and that it can face and manage the challenges of the last year and a half in the city government.
The challengers
The opposition groups have been under pressure over the last two weeks: 14 signatures are the result of the coalition that fought against Fiorita’s lists in 2022. And if it is true that they also include Action and Rebirth, not organic to the centre-right, Forza Italia and Fratelli d’Italia, Lega and Noi Moderati tried to identify a common strategy for the post-resignation period, in the event that the operation was successful. But neither one nor the other possibility came true. Of course, the theoretical deadline for collecting signatures remains February 24th, but the games now seem to be over.
