The municipal council of Castiglione Cosentino has adopted a resolution that completely eliminates the canteen ticket for all children attending nursery school, starting from the current school year. The measure, defined by the administration as unprecedented in Calabria and among the few in Italy, was announced by the mayor Salvatore Magarò.
The municipal executive has chosen to make the service completely free, considering it an integral part of the public training offer, like the lessons. The measure aims to offer concrete economic support to families in difficulty, encourage birth rates, attract young couples and combat the depopulation of the area, while at the same time discouraging the enrollment of children in institutes in neighboring municipalities in the Cosenza urban area.
