The collaborative relationship between the municipal administration of Cosenza and the University of Calabria is strengthened. This is what emerged from the meeting held at Palazzo dei Bruzi between the mayor Franz Caruso and the new rector of Unical Gianluigi Greco, who had a long conversation in an atmosphere of cordiality and sharing.
The institutional meeting
During the meeting, the rector Greco illustrated to the mayor some projects destined to have significant impacts on the territory. Among these, the creation of a digital catalog of the MAB – Bilotti Open Air Museum, curated by the University of Calabria, with the installation of plaques equipped with QR codes for access to a virtual museum. The contents, agreed with the artistic curator Roberto Bilotti Ruggi d’Aragona, will also be oriented towards tourism promotion and scientifically validated.
Another central theme was the reuse of spaces of the hospital, in the area of via Rivocati-via San Martino, intended to house the Center for neurology studies on brain health, financed by the Ministry of University and Research with 2.5 million euros. The project includes a joint Unical-CNR research center and a psychological listening centre.
The other projects
The use of further spaces in the monumental complex of San Domenico for university laboratory activities and the relaunch of the Telesiani, Bruniani and Campanelliani Study Center in Palazzo Caselli-Vaccaro were also discussed. The mayor and rector agreed on the need to enhance the structure and make it more usable for institutional and cultural initiatives, hoping for an acceleration of the interventions financed by the CIS for the historic center.
