The fact that social policies have been the Achilles heel of the “Luigi Razza” palace for years is demonstrated, first of all, by the sentences of the Courts. An organization often incapable of activating paths to support those who live with disabilities, offices not really ready to give answers and only one certainty: the District funds largely spent but not all accounted for.
Yesterday the knots came to a head after, a few days ago, the new councilor for Social Policies Lorenza Scrugli herself had “denounced” a complex situationin general, with particular attention to the “Poverty Fund” of which – according to the offices’ report – part of the reporting of the last few years was missing. A real mess that was uncovered by the executive representative who inevitably induced the opposition to ask that the director of the sector – in this case the general secretary Dominic Free Scuglia – reported in the Chamber.
Yesterday the showdown took place in the fourth council committee, chaired by Marcella Mellea. The secretary opened the proceedings by reeling off an infinite amount of data relating to “funds that – he explained – are from the District and not from the Municipality. They simply pass through the budget of this body. He recalled that in 2019 the Durc was still negative, that there were millions of euros blocked, that delays inevitably accumulated”. Then, regarding the Poverty Fund, he highlighted “that it is one of the many funds managed by the District” and analyzed the functions of the Planning Office, underlining the point at which the reporting of the last few years was, obviously, “to be completed”.
And here, the twists. Because in front of the data relating to 2019, “100% accounted for”, the councilor interrupted him, even denying it: “They do not correspond to the truth”.
