In the last few days, the Carabinieri of the Gallina Station have 54 year old from Reggio Calabria arrestedexecuting an order of execution for imprisonment issued by the judicial authorities, thus putting an end to a dramatic family affair marked by years of abuse and violence. The investigations, started in 2021, had already revealed a disturbing picture of mistreatment, characterized by verbal violence, death threats and continuous insults, which had forced his wife and children, including a minor, to live in a constant state of terror.
The story took a decisive turn in August 2023, when the wife, exasperated and worried about her own safety and that of her children, found the courage to report her husband to the authorities. This report allowed the Carabinieri to reconstruct a sequence of episodes of unprecedented gravity, including threats to dissolve the woman in acidwhich demonstrate a worrying continuity of aggressive and bullying behavior. Following the complaint, the woman decided to leave the family home, seeking refuge with relatives and frequently changing her place of residence to escape the fury of the man, who, not accepting the separation, intensified his violent behavior, turning into a real stalker.
In a particularly alarming episode, the man showed up armed with a knife at the home of his wife’s parentsin a last-ditch attempt to track her down, prompting an immediate reaction from the Carabinieri, who applied the “Red Code” to ensure maximum protection for the victim and her children. Already in the same month of August, the man had been placed under house arrest with the absolute prohibition on contacting his family, but the evolution of the criminal proceedings made the further measure of imprisonment necessary.
