The President of the Province of Cosenza, Rosaria Succurro, spoke yesterday afternoon in Lecce at the panel “The Pnrr and investments for schools”, as part of the 38th National Assembly of the Italian Provinces, entitled “The Provinces, open to the future!”.
The initiative, with almost a thousand delegates from all over the country, was inaugurated yesterday morning, 25 November, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
After taking part in the opening ceremony and greeting the Head of State together with the others present, Succurro brought to the discussion on the Pnrr the experience gained by the Province of Cosenza, indicated by the Union of Italian Provinces as first in Italy in terms of spending capacity of the relevant funds, with approximately 75.5 million euros already used in concrete interventions.
In her speech the President underlined: «Pnrr investments in schools are a strategic choice for the future of communities. With safe, inclusive and energy-efficient and digital buildings, we give our children the same educational opportunities as big cities, also to keep internal areas alive.”
Succurro then highlighted the work carried out by the Province of Cosenza on the design and acceleration of procedures for school construction, financed with European Next Generation Eu resources. She focused in particular on the opening of new construction sites and the modernization of numerous high schools distributed in the various areas of the territory, from the coasts to the mountains. The president also recalled the support offered by the provincial technical structure to the smaller municipalities, often without dedicated offices, both in the project application phase and in the administrative management of the interventions, in line with the body’s commitment to guarantee full and timely use of the resources of the Pnrr and of the new European programming cycle.
«Today in Lecce – concluded Succurro – demonstrates that the Provinces can be protagonists of a new season, in which proximity to the territories proves essential to transform the major national and European strategies into works, services and opportunities, meanwhile for the benefit of students and their families».
