'Ndrangheta in Vibo, maxi Maestrale-Carthago trial: only six municipalities admitted as civil parties

The Collegiate Court of Vibo Valentiaduring thehearing in the Maestrale-Carthago maxi-trial against i mafia clans from the Vibo area has only six Municipalities were admitted as civil parties among the local authorities, excluding most of those who had lodged a request.

Also excluded are the Calabria Region, the Province of Vibo Valentia, the INPS, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Prefecture of Vibo and Reggio Calabria, and the Revenue Agency. Therefore, only the municipalities of Parghelia, Ricadi, Spilinga, Sant'Onofrio, Cessaniti and Filandari enter the ordinary process, together with the ASP of Vibo Valentia. Excluding the municipalities of Vibo Valentia, Tropea, Briatico, Filogaso, Drapia, Limbadi, Mileto, Maierato, Nicotera, San Calogero, Marcellinara, San Costantino Calabro, San Gregorio d'Ippona, Pizzo, Soriano Calabro, Sorianello, Stefanaconi, Zungri, Ionadi , Catanzaro and Cittanova. The Court also reserved the right to decide on the admission of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers as civil parties, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health. A request for recusal made by the District Attorney's Office is pending in the Court, while the abstention, again requested by the prosecutors of the Catanzaro DDA, with whom the civil parties were associated, was rejected by the President of the Court Antonio Erminio Di Matteo. Furthermore, the civil parties were admitted in the preliminary hearing and are currently present in the other two parts of the proceedings, the summary one and the assize.
