The Court of Appeal of Reggio Calabria has acquitted the entrepreneur from Gioia Tauro Alfonso Annunziata, accused of mafia association. The sentence was issued this afternoon by the judges of Piazza Castello, afteror the indictment of the general prosecutor’s office, which had requested confirmation of the 12-year sentence imposed at first instance.

The Court also rejected the appeal proposed by the Public Prosecutor regarding the positions of Annunziata’s family members, all of whom were acquitted at first instance by the Court of Palmi. Fioravante Annunziata, Domenica Epifanio, Rosa Anna Annunziata, Valeria Annunziata, Marzia Annunziata and Carmelo Ambesi, Claudio Pontoriero, Roberta Bravetti, Rosina Zinnà and Andrea Bravetti, were all acquitted because the fact does not exist. All the assets that had been seized were returned to the defendant, owner of the Gioia Tauro and Vibo Valentia business parks that bear his name.
