The proposal of the mayor Flavio Stasi to establish the province of Sibaritide is also shared by the small municipalities of the hinterland of Corigliano Rossano, including the two municipalities of Cropalati and Paludiwhich through the two mayors elected in the last electoral round, respectively, Domenico Citrea and Domenico Baldinoexpress their support. Both the two bodies have already experimented and implemented an initiative to broaden their competences and open up to the territory through the establishment of the Union with the lead municipality of Corigliano Rossano, called “Co-Ro PNRR” stipulated between the mayor Flavio Stasi, supporter of the proposal of the province of Sibaritide, with the predecessors of the current mayors, Stefano Graziano mayor of Paludi and Luigi Lettieri mayor of Cropalati, which has produced the first positive effects on the administrative level with the establishment of the Central Single Procurement Office. Mayor Citrea, while considering the institution of the province important, on the administrative level and on the greater attention that even small municipalities like Cropalati could receive from the sub-municipal body, believes that «the new province of Sibaritide can become an opportunity for development for this territory only if it is not limited to a mere redefinition of provincial territorial borders».
On this he points out that the current Province of Cosenza has more than 700,000 inhabitants and a very large territory of about 6,650 kmq. “What better occasion – he asks – to address this issue by taking advantage of the discussion, at a national level, on the review of the Delrio Law and therefore on the reform of the role of the provinces?”.
