«In a truly liberal country, social origin should not a priori mark a person’s destiny. Where you start from shouldn’t decide where you can get to.” This is the idea, developed from life experiences, which forms the background and accompanies the volume “The courage to govern”, a book-manifesto by the president of the Calabria Region and national deputy secretary of Forza Italia, Roberto Occhiuto, in bookshops from 29 September and published by Piemme.
The first public release is scheduled for Wednesday 30th at 3pm in the Mondadori bookshop inside the Sordi Gallery, in Piazza Colonna in Rome. The Calabrian governor will speak with the journalist David Parenzo.
The 208-page volume is defined as a «liberal survival manual for the time to come» where Occhiuto shares the story «of complex challenges, from the management of public health to the European battles on energy, from the confrontation with allies to the issue of migration. A manifesto – we read in the description of the book – reformist, guaranteeist and projected towards the future, aimed at those seeking a policy that is not afraid of the new and knows how to combine keeping accounts with the protection of freedom and individual rights”.
