Not only an appointment dedicated to orientation but a real challenge for the future of young people: This is the spirit with which the Opportunity Day Messina started yesterdaythe event that for three days, until tomorrow, transforms the European Union Piazza and via Laudamo into a large laboratory of ideas, meetings and projects designed for the under 35. promoted by the Department of Youth Policies of the Municipality of Messina together with the University of Studies and sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Teatro Authority, the event aims to offer much more than simple information: the goal is to give boys and girls concrete tools to choose a training and work path consistent with their own ambitions, without necessarily going away from Messina. Already from the first day the enthusiasm was palpable: many students and students have crowded the stands in search of useful ideas to orient themselves between degree courses, masters, internships, entrepreneurial opportunities and personal growth projects. The University is present with its departments and orientation services, ready to illustrate the news of the training offer and answer questions.
The cut of the large tricolor cake (prepared by the Antonello institute directed by Laura Tringali) sanctioned the official opening of the event, in the presence of the mayor Federico Basile, of the councilor for youth policies Liana Cannata, the expert Stello Vadalà, the rector Giovanna Spatari and the manager of the provincial school office Leon Zingales. Also present present for example entities such as INPS or the Employment Center, and the police who illustrate career opportunities. Particular attention is paid to the “Neetwork me: subway for youth employment” project, which aims to support entrepreneurship and employment between 18 and 29 years in the province of Messina. An initiative that looks far away, with the ambition to create an ecosystem of stable and lasting opportunities for young people. An opportunity to live intensely to take one’s future in hand with awareness and determination.

The workshops in the Laudamo room, including the one dedicated to young information, organized by South publishing company: Natalia La Rosahead of the GDS Academy, dialogue together with the professor Marco Centorrinodeputy director of the Dicam, and to the RTP journalist Francesca Stornanteon the role of responsible information, on which democratic participation is based, and the opportunities that can be offered to young people in this field, in particular to those who study at the University of Messina also thanks to the synergy with Gazzetta del Sud. The SES stand in the square also offered the possibility of getting to know more closely projects such as the one linked to the historic insert Noi Magazine, Unime GDS LAB, the journalism laboratory promoted by SES and UNIME, of RTP.
The program continues today and tomorrow with talk, and spaces dedicated to comparison on current affairs and new challenges of the world of work. The idea at the base of Opportunity Day is simple but powerful: creating a bridge between those looking for their own way and those who can help that road.
