Moments of great fear yesterday evening for the passengers of a bus traveling on the A20 motorway, hit by a stone a few kilometers from the Sant’Agata Militello junction. On the vehicle were managers, fans and family members of the Orlandina Calcio players returning from the trip to Marineo where the champion team had played in the semi-final of the playoffs of the promotion tournament for access to Eccellenza. The bus had just passed the Furiano service area, in the Acquedolci area, when the passengers heard a very loud bang without immediately realizing what had happened. The quick reflexes of the driver were therefore providential as he managed to maintain control of the vehicle and reach a rest area in the side area just before entering the tunnel.
Fortunately, none of the people on board suffered any consequences, while the bus was damaged in the upper part of the front window on the driver’s side. A traffic police patrol from the Sant’Agata Militello detachment then arrived on site to investigate the case. In particular, what needs to be ascertained is what was reported by some of the people traveling on the vehicle who, shortly before the impact, noticed the presence of some people stationed on the overpass in the distance. Circumstance being investigated by the Polstrada who will therefore have to verify whether it was actually a crazy gesture on the part of someone or whether it was instead a piece of debris that fell off accidentally that hit the bus.
