Emma Eboli is the new president of the “Eboli” socialist culture club in Paola. The nomination came during a board meeting, coordinated by the secretary Carmelo Olivella, who underlined how “comrade Emma Eboli embodies the desire to continue the dissemination of socialist culture in the city and in the district, at the same time representing the Calabrian socialist tradition in its highest and noblest dimension”.

The Club, in a sign of continuity with the commitment carried out since its foundation, will continue its cultural action to promote a democratic and liberal society, maintaining firm the principles of reformist socialism. Among the objectives, the valorisation of the city and regional socialist history through publications, public meetings and events aimed above all at young people.

The Paola socialists have also reiterated their desire to maintain an autonomous role and free voice in the city’s political debate, which they believe is often conditioned by personalism. During the meeting, a path was also traced that will culminate, in late spring, with the re-edition of the Avanti festival, the historic socialist newspaper.

The memory of Miro Eboli, founder and historical figure of Paola socialism, after whom the club is named, is moved. «I would never have wanted to replace my father so soon – said Emma Eboli – but in his name and in his memory I feel the duty to continue the projects he had started for and with the Club». A commitment that aims, as underlined by the members, to “give a home to Paolan socialism, both ideal and physical”.
