Paola, sale of alcohol banned: traders protest

An ordinance that divides. Stop the consumption of takeaway alcohol from Thursday 27th until the Christmas holidays. In an important period for public activities, in particular those in the city center which derive the greatest profits precisely in the period between mid and late December. The issues are attributable to public order and to avoid the occurrence of disorder, fights and damage as has happened in the past. The mayor has in fact banned the consumption of takeaway alcoholic beverages in public places. Some traders were against this and made their voices heard, asking the mayor in particular whether he had “thought carefully about what percentage the ordinance can really influence in resolving the problem and how much it influences the already critical situation in which the city’s traders find themselves”. Fights and noise are unfortunately the order of the day «due to the “usual suspects”, five or six people, already known to the police and to anyone who frequents the squares and public places», unfortunately we traders and all those people who want to spend evenings in peace have to lose out. It would be appropriate to act against them and not against the traders. For us this is a big punishment.”
