The area of the “Eugenio Tarsitano” stadium will be used as a night-time helicopter rescue runway on a temporary basis, pending the full 24-hour functionality of the helipad built at the time in the square in front of the “San Francesco di Paola” hospital. A choice dictated by the need to guarantee continuity and safety to the health emergency service in a complex area such as that of the Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza, characterized by often difficult connections and a morphology that makes the air ambulance an essential tool for the management of emergencies. The councilor for public works of the Municipality of Paola, Gabriele Fiorito, has started an administrative and technical process aimed at accelerating the approval of the necessary planning. The current configuration of the hospital helipad, in fact, presents critical issues related above all to access to the area, a fundamental element for safe operations, particularly at night.
