«Today the construction site of the Reformist House begins, which is a space at the center of the center-left, in which we will bring together all the forces of common sense who imagine building an alternative to the disastrous Schifani and Meloni governments which had promised more security, fewer taxes and more infrastructure. All things that they have not achieved in these years of government. We have the ambition, however, to build alternative programs, naturally with a coalition that has the strength to win.” Thus Davide Faraone, national vice-president of Italia Viva, while the regional assembly of the Renzian party is taking place in Palermo, in view of the national one which will be held from 17 January in Milan. According to Faraone “the center and the centre-right are disintegrating, the DC has disappeared and is increasingly destined to become extinct and the same thing is happening to the Mpa”.
For Dafne Musolino, deputy group leader of Italia Viva in the Senate, “there is the need to unite with the moderate, centrist forces, who do not recognize themselves in the most extreme left or even in this right-wing majority that leaves something to be desired”.
“Schifani has already sunk. De Luca must decide”
Faraone’s words are harsh: «Schifani has already sunk, he is not sailing in good waters. He is the last one still left in this boat to say “I will still be president of the Region”. He should go home immediately, both because he governed badly and because of everything we read in the newspapers.” Faraone has something for everyone: «Cateno De Luca must decide what he wants to do, just like all those who decide to stay at the center of the center-left, he must do it clearly, therefore without being a dancer, one day on one side and the next on the other, and without imposing conditions. The initiative of January 18th in Caltagirone? We’ll listen to what he says. If he speaks clearly about positioning himself in the reformist and progressive center-left sphere, he naturally becomes an interlocutor. If instead he continues to have an equidistant attitude, or with one shot at the rim and one at the barrel, no.” The reply was not long in coming, entrusted to the regional coordinator of South Calls North, Danilo Lo Giudice: «From what pulpit do lessons of coherence come, considering that in Palermo it is with the centre-right and at a national and regional level with the centre-left. Let him stop being the master of dancers. First withdraw your men from the center-right of the Palermo government and then, in Caltagirone, you will have the opportunity to tell us what you want to do when you grow up.”
