The vice-president of the Regional Council of Calabria with responsibility for Culture, Giusi Princimet with Calabrian publishers to gather ideas and proposals necessary to lay the organizational foundations for the participation of the Calabria Region in the XXXVI edition of the Book Fair, scheduled from 9 to 13 May in Turin.
“From the comparison with the many Calabrian publishing houses – reports Vice President Princi – some really interesting ideas have emerged for a global promotion of the rich Calabrian literary world at the historic event in Turin, which will not only concern the sale of volumes but which will be characterized by a series of initiatives that will help us build a better future through literature, through the voices of our most illustrious authors such as those of, to name just a few, Saverio Strati, Franco Costabile, whose birth centenary this year also marks, Corrado Alvaro, Pasquino Crupi, Leonida Repaci, through the writings of our contemporary and emerging authors. It was a well-attended meeting from which shared proposals and ideas emerged relating to the theme of the 2024 edition of the Book Fair ‘Imaginary Life'”.
“What we are working on – specifies Princi – is a rich program that will see the active involvement of all the regional Library Systems, with the Lametino Library System as the leader, as established during the meeting. Furthermore, it was decided to appoint the publisher Franco Arcidiaco as representative of the other publishing houses in the organizational phase of the Turin event. As in last year, the 2024 edition of the fair will also benefit from the presence of Calabrian schools and will therefore be animated and enriched by the participation of our students for whom targeted sections of generational comparison with writers, but also with authors from the world of entertainment such as the one, for example, planned with the professor-singer Roberto Vecchioni, veteran of the duet with Alfa in Sanremo”.
“Imagination is the salt of writing, it is the source of creativity, the furrow where our dreams are nourished. We want to start from imagination to build a real world where books are the protagonists. And the presence of the Calabria Region at the Book Fair – underlines vice-president Princi – will be a tribute to imaginary life in all its facets but it will also and above all be the space to tell, pure with literature, Calabria with its territory beautiful and mysterious, with its lively community that imagines its own land full of possibilities where it can concretely nourish dreams and hopes”.
During the meeting, also present were the general manager of the Culture Department, Maria Francesco Gattoand the sector manager, Ersilia Amatruda, the vice president informed that the space reserved for Calabria in the most central part of the Show will be over 200 square meters.
