Protecting agricultural production and livestock from damage resulting from attacks by wild fauna and adverse weather conditions is the objective pursued by the Calabria Region through the tender, already published and available on the website www.calabriapsr.it, financed under the Psr Calabria through Measure 4.1.1., reserved for investments in agricultural companies.

In particular, with a budget of 22 million euros, the aim will be to encourage the implementation of works to defend agricultural crops and stabled livestock from the raids of wild fauna, primarily wild boars and wolves, as well as from the consequences of the increasingly sudden and violent waves of bad weather.

“Support breeders and farmers in this difficult battle – he observes the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Gianluca Gallo – is essential to allow the development of the Calabrian agri-food sector, which is increasingly establishing itself in terms of excellence and quality. Despite the complexity of widespread problems at a national level and beyond, in agreement with trade organisations, we still intend to guarantee concrete and useful responses to help stem the emergency of the phenomenon”.

Specifically, the notice is intended for agricultural entrepreneurs, either individually or in association, who intend to carry out – in agricultural areas of the Calabrian territory – interventions to protect fruit orchards, open-field vegetable crops, vineyards, olive groves, arable land or, again, , of stabled farms. Using the resources available, it will be possible to proceed – for example – with the purchase and installation of mesh or live windbreak systems, anti-hail nets, shade nets, perimeter fences, perimeter fences with low intensity electric protections and – for stabled farms – fences with buried concrete curbs or posts.

The contribution may be recognized up to a maximum of 70% of the cost of the investment, if carried out in mountainous or disadvantaged areas, or in any case for companies run by young people who have completed their first installation in the five-year period preceding the application for support, and in any case to 50%, if carried out in other areas.
Applications must be completed and submitted strictly by 4pm on November 11th, using exclusively the electronic platform which can be reached at the address:
