There Calabria region will receive, also in 2024, important resources from the Government for protection of historical linguistic minorities.
The Presidency of the Council of Ministers, in fact, has defined with a newly published decree the distribution of the sums annually allocated for the implementation of the principles and objectives of the law on the protection of historical linguistic minorities. In this regard, despite a contraction of the overall funds available, redefined as 2,800,000 euros (60% of which directly assigned to Friuli Venezia Giulia and Sardinia), More than 300,000 euros have been reserved for Calabria.
“The acceptance of the project proposals presented by the Region for the protection and promotion of our linguistic minorities – explains the regional councilor for linguistic minorities, Gianluca Gallo – will allow us to guarantee the implementation of quality initiatives, in the wake of the concerted work carried out forward in recent years with the communities involved and the relevant cultural bodies”.
Specifically, 314,715.43 euros will go to the Calabria Region, intended to support 24 projects to safeguard the Arbëreshë, Occitan and Grecanic linguistic minorities, with particular attention to promotion and dissemination interventions through the funding of linguistic offices, training and cultural activities, as well as toponymy implementation actions.
