The proposal to establish the Province of Sibaritide, which has revived in Corigliano Rossano and in the vast surrounding area the need for administrative decentralization, takes on institutional contours, with the establishment of the special temporary commission approved by the municipal council, which was convened by the elected president, the majority municipal councilor, Anthony Grape for the day after tomorrow, Monday 9. The temporary council body, which has taken the name of the Commission “Local Autonomy for the Establishment of the New Province”, will hold its first meeting the day after tomorrow, at 10 am, in the council hall in Piazza SS. Anargiri in the historic center of Rossano. The president of the city council, Rosellina Madeo, and the members of the commission will be present. Uva forwarded the same communication to the mayor Flavio Stasi, to the general secretary of the municipality Dr. Paolo Lo Moro, and to the council group leaders.
The agenda includes the President’s communications and the programming of the commission’s activities. Uva, who had already promoted the proposal to establish the Sibaritide and Pollino province, believes that in involving local institutions, it would be appropriate to start from that proposal to which 42 local authorities had adhered. He believes that those same municipalities will still be able to confirm those adhesions today, subject to the checks he will promote, on the confirmation of the will or otherwise. He is also confident that the 42 local authorities will adhere to the proposal that now sees the institutional landscape changed with the birth of the City of Corigliano Rossano, the first municipality in the Province of Cosenza. And precisely by examining the conformation of the current enormous province of Cosenza, he is of the opinion that the eventual detachment of the 42 or even 50 municipalities from Cosenza, this would not suffer damage, indeed it would be able to better manage the services of its district. There is, therefore, expectation on the process that should lead to the birth of the province of Sibaritide.
