In 48 hours the Amaco will cease to exist. The last extension of the financial year of the company placed in liquidation expires on the 30th. The local public transport service in the city of Cosenza will be guaranteed by Cometra. Probably, for a few days, only some lines will operate and around fifty drivers will be employed. In fact, the passing of the baton between the former municipal company and Cometra is complex. Once the collective dismissal procedure has been completed, the staff must be rehired in stages. However, all 108 jobs will be saved. This afternoon the president of the Consortium, Aristide Vercillo, will bring to the attention of the members’ assembly the results of the meetings with the municipal administration (he will entrust the management of paid parking to allow Cometra to keep some traffic auxiliaries on staff), with the bankruptcy trustee Fernando Caldiero and the trade union organizations (they chose from the first moment the solution of the public manager on the Calabria Region-Cometra axis, closing the door twice in the face of the private one, the Consortium Autolinee Tpl), as well as providing economic-financial data on the acquisition of the Tpl service in the Bruzio capital.
The era of Amaco Spa has therefore come to an end. A long-public company with 100% of the shares owned by the Municipality of Cosenza which has always struggled over the last twenty years.
