Public works in Vibo, 4 construction sites closed, the eternal ones remain… unfinished

To Caesar what is Caesar’s. As announced at the beginning of his mandate, the mayor of the city Enzo Romeo has kept faith with the promise according to which some works, among those with the greatest impact on the town centre, would be completed by the end of the year. In fact, Piazza Martiri d’Unità, Piazza Luigi Razza (despite some unforeseen events to use a euphemism), the roundabout in Viale Affaccio (which for three months brought traders to their knees, resulting in a drop of more than half in turnover) and so on Descent of the Jesus, they are once again accessible to citizens. Of course, with many fewer stops than before, it will soon be necessary to think about a more effective shuttle bus service (the vehicle that runs around the city without passengers is of little use) and above all to create some parking in the peripheral areas.
In any case, four construction sites were closed. But the good news ends here because with everything else the feeling is that it’s still a long way off. First of all, the two eternal unfinished buildings, the new theater in the Moderata Durant area and the escalator that should connect the bus terminal to the city center. Although apparently completed, they still remain off-limits. The reasons, albeit briefly, were set out in the report by the councilor for public works Salvatore Monteleone, during the press conference at the end of the year. As regards the escalator, «the works – we read – have been completed, the structural testing has been acquired and we are awaiting the inspection by the technicians of the Ansfisa agency to be able to put it into operation». An…sfi…sa, Don Abbondio would have said for her as for Carneades: “Who was he?”
